Last weekend I went to Hastings, MN to explore what this historic town had to offer. I was told of a waterfall that was just on the outside of town. It is easy to get to from the the higher view point, as it is located near the parking lot at the beginning of the walking trails. However not as easy to get to the lower view point, but I feel it was worth the climb. One reason I really like this waterfall is the old factory building that is next to it. I love architecture and history and this old run down building adds a lot of interest and character.

There was a bridge that crossed to the other side of the river and the fence was covered in locks. I've come across a few places like this and find it fascinating. Knowing there are people that have declared their relationship with someone at these spots is special. I'm not sure how it got started but I want to say it may have originated in Paris and now is done world wide. It reminds me of when people would carve their initials in a tree.

There are a lot of cute shops and restaurants along the main strip of town. I was very impressed with how the old buildings dating back to the 1800s were kept up. They looked as if they were just built. There was a scenic walking path just behind the buildings, and I couldn't resist checking out the bridges. I love the shape and contrast the road bridge had against the bright blue sky. The rail road bridge was neat too, if only it wasn't illegal to go on it I would have loved to explore it more.

A couple blocks away was a stunning city building. I wish buildings and homes were still made with such detail and character. What are some of your favorite architectural buildings that are in Minnesota?
