How did you celebrate Mother's Day? I got to spend the day with my mom and daughter. It ended up being a nicer day than I had expected. I didn't think we would get to enjoy a sunny day. To my surprise it was actually quite sunny most of the day. We were looking to find a nice park that had flowers, and usually go to the Munsinger and Clemens garden in St. Cloud. I decided to search for other near by gardens and suggested we try something new. We were not disappointed when we ended up at Lyndale Park Rose Garden. It's a very nice park that is large with lots of flowers that were in full bloom. I don't know my flowers very well (my mom's more the expert in that department), but I do know that there were a variety of tulips, daffodil, bluebells, bleeding hearts and so much more. There were many people out enjoying the flowers, having picnics, relaxing in hammocks, taking pictures, napping, reading books and playing frisbee.
After exploring the park we headed over to Lake Harriet. There was a walking and bike path that led us to the pier not far from the park. We saw a few sail boats, paddle boards, kayaks and rowboats out on the water. There was even a place to rent from, which was put in place back in 1889. If you like history it is an interesting read, which you can find on Lake Harriet Park's website. The entertainment pavilion has a beautiful architectural victorian design, my daughter says it looks like a castle.
There was so much more to explore that we didn't even get around to seeing. I highly recommend going if you looking to spend the day outside that's within the city. What are some of your favorite parks to visit?
